on the surface Jemma has always been a classic overachiever: she's a brilliant biochemist with two PhDs, one of the youngest graduates of SHIELD's Academy of Science and Technology, an integral part of the team in all of its iterations. she's also highly prone to anxiety and guilt, incredibly overanalytical, notably possessing of a respect for authority (and authoritative women) and of a praise kink, deeply loyal and caring (though while it's hard to fall out of her good graces it's harder to get back in them), more than a little traumatized (though not irrevocably broken), and braver and stronger than she gives herself credit for.
