Jemma Simmons (played by Elizabeth Henstridge on Agents of SHIELD) is a SHIELD agent specializing in biochemistry who essentially manages the science division since the fall and reformation of SHIELD that followed the reveal of Hydra's presence and Nick Fury's abdication. She has two PhDs and is responsible for much of the new SHIELD's work with xenobiology, specifically with Inhumans, as well as serving as the team's go-to medical doctor, sometimes doing field work, and advising the uppermost levels of SHIELD management in science and technology issues. She initially joined Phil Coulson's traveling team of agents with her best friend, engineering genius Leo Fitz; after multiple near-death experiences and periods of separation tested their relationship, they began dating, although recent events occurring in the digital Framework that Fitz helped create may challenge that (and as a rule this writer absolutely does not ship them and will ignore their romance if possible). She's also extremely close (canonically as friends, but that the writer does interpret romantically) to Daisy Johnson, another teammate who has also become the superhero Quake and thus inspired a lot of Jemma's interest in understanding Inhumans. She spent months undercover in Hydra to gather information, eventually meeting and being evacuated by fellow SHIELD agent and undercover operative Bobbi Morse, who's now one of her close friends (that the writer can and definitely will interpret romantically as well). She's also friends with other agents and former agents, including Melinda May, Mike Peterson, Antoine Triplett (RIP), Alphonso Mackenzie, Lance Hunter, Elena Rodriguez, and Anne Weaver, and has canonically admired both Peggy Carter and Victoria Hand; it's possible to extrapolate at least passing acquaintances with other SHIELD agents as well, connecting her thus to characters from the films.

Jemma was also written into the comics for two separate SHIELD runs that largely followed the team's adventures in a way similar to the television show. In the second run she was, as a lifesaving measure, given implants of Deathlok technology, rendering elements of her physiology more akin to an android than a human while still allowing her to retain her personhood. While this is super interesting, the writer doesn't really integrate it into RP, but if someone was interested it could be worked out.
